North finishes 11th in girls' golf region

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — BURNSIDE—North Laurel finished with a team score of 491 to place 11th in the girls’ Region 9 golf tournament, held Tuesday at Burnside State Park.

The Lady Jaguars were led by Caitlin Gibson’s 101. Brianna Valentine shot a 117, Kylee Gambrel, 134, and Makara Prichard, 139.

Russell County won the region title with a team score of 333, with Barbourville coming in second at 338 and Williamsburg third, 341.

Pulaski County’s Elsa Moberly won the region title with a 69. Hannabeth Owens of Rockcastle County took second with a 71, Barbourville’s Kristen Engle placed third with a 75. Fourth place went to Morgan Walker of Williamsburg with a 77, Bailey Hubbard of Clay County came in fifth with a 79, Brianne Coe of Russell County took sixth with a 79, Barbourville’s Lauren Bohl placed seventh with an 80, and eighth place went to Julia Higginbotham with an 80.

South Laurel did not compete in the region tournament.
