Woolum breaks own long jump record

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — RICHMOND—The North Laurel girls’ long jump record was broken twice in Tuesday night’s Madison Central All-Comers track and field meet in Richmond.

The record was held by Ashley Woolum at 16-5 1/2. Samantha Proffitt jumped 16-6 to set a new record, but not for long, as Woolum jumped 17-6 to set the new record and win the event. Woolum also improved on her triple jump record with a distance of 37-0 to also win that event.

The Lady Jaguars finished fourth in the meet with 78 points, while South Laurel took seventh with 31.50 points. Madison Central won the meet with 172 points.

On the boys’ side, North Laurel took fifth with 102 points while South came in eighth with 20 points. Lexington Catholic won the boys’ meet with 123.50 points.

Corey Hyde (NL) won the boys’ 110 hurdles with a time of 16.80 with teammate Thomas Melton taking eighth in 18.80. Mariah House was the top South Laurel finisher in the girls’ 100 with a time of 14.40. Sarah Mandviwala (SL) came in 20th, Mikayla Nunley (NL), 24th, and Neely Patel (SL), 27th. In the boys’ 100, Austin Hayes (SL) placed 19th, Bradley Hacker (SL), 26th, Walker Workman (SL), 29th, Malik Phillips (SL), 30th, Zack Collins (NL), 32nd, and Bryson Reed (NL), 33rd.

South Laurel ‘A’ came in seventh in the girls’ 4x200, with South Laurel ‘B’ taking eighth, South Laurel ‘C’, ninth, and North Laurel ‘A’, 11th. South Laurel ‘B’ placed seventh in the boys’ 4x200 while South Laurel ‘A’ came in eighth, North Laurel ‘A’, ninth, and South Laurel ‘C’, 10th.

South’s Alyssa Hamilton took sixth in the girls’ 1600 while teammate Annie Sharp placed 19th. In the boys’ 1600, North placed 1-2 with Gregory Randolph taking first in 4:48.10, while Layne Gaynor came in second in 4:50.50. North’s Garrett Napier took eighth, South’s Jonathan Hampton, 17th, North’s Noah Smith, 25th, Jake VanHook (SL), 32nd, and Lucas Maxey (SL), 33rd.

South Laurel ‘B’ came in seventh in the girls’ 4x100 while South Laurel ‘A’ came in 11th and North Laurel ‘A’, 12th. South Laurel ‘A’ placed fifth in the boys’ 4x100 while South Laurel ‘B’ came in seventh, South Laurel ‘C’, eighth, and North Laurel ‘A’, ninth. The girls’ 400 saw Sierra Hedrick (NL) come in 12th, Tanacia Abner (NL), 13th, Laurence Beliveau (SL), 18th, Jenna Phelps (SL), 18th, McKenzie Gaines (SL), 22nd and Jamie Oakley (SL), 26th. The boys’ 400 had Garrison Burchell (NL) taking sixth, Chance Lambert (NL), 10th, Austin Smith (SL), 12th, Trevor Johnson (SL), 13th, Christopher Butcher (SL), 21st, Brendon McCormick (SL), 23rd, and Logan Gilbert (SL), 24th.

Ariel Asher (NL) took 11th in the girls’ 300 hurdles, while Allison Smith (SL) came in 14th, Alyson Croley (SL), 15th, and Haley Brock (NL), 18th. Corey Hyde (NL) came in third in the boys’ 300 hurdles, with Thomas Melton (NL) taking 10th and Skyler Queen (SL), 14th.

In the girls’ 800, Annie Sharp (SL) placed 11th, McKenna Fojtek (SL), 13th, Hayden Combs (SL), 15th, McKenzie Gaines (SL), 16th, and Jamie Oakley (SL), 17th. Gregory Randolph (NL) took fourth in the boys’ 800, while Justin Phelps (SL) came in ninth, Jonathan Hampton (SL), 17th, Vince Holcomb (SL), 18th, Logan Frost (SL), 21st, Tanner Hoskins (SL), 25th, Zach Davis (SL), 27th, Hunter Higgins (NL), 28th, Logan Gilbert (SL) 30th, Winston Benge (NL), 31st, Jake VanHook (SL), 33rd and Lucas Maxey (SL), 34th.

In the girls’ 200, Haylee Harris (NL) took 22nd and Mikayla Nunley (NL), 26th. Sam Gaskin (SL) took 14th, Chance Lambert (NL), 16th, Aaron Nelson (NL), 22nd, Hunter Higgins (NL), 23rd, Skyler Queen (SL), 28th, Andrew Nolan (NL), 29th, Dillon Greer (SL), 30th and Logan Hacker (NL), 32nd.

Alyssa Hamilton (SL) took third in the girls’ 3200. In the boys’ 3200, Garrison Burchell (NL) took third, Brendon McCormick (SL), 13th, and Jake VanHook (SL), 24th.

South Laurel ‘A’ took fifth in the girls’ 4x400 with North Laurel ‘A’ taking sixth. In the boys’ 4x400, South Laurel ‘A’ placed fifth and North Laurel ‘A’, seventh.

Ashley Woolum (NL) won the girls’ high jump at 5-0, with Samantha Proffitt (NL) taking third, Mariah House (SL), sixth, and Alyson Croley (SL), 11th. In the boys’ high jump, Corey Hyde (NL) placed sixth and Drew Marcum (NL), seventh. Samantha Proffitt (NL) won the girls’ pole vault at 8-0, with Tara Egner (NL) coming in fourth and McKenna Fojtek (SL), fifth. In the boys’ pole vault, Aaron Nelson (NL) placed second, Andrew Kidd (NL), third, Andrew Nolan (NL), fifth, Austin Phelps (SL), eighth, Austin Smith (SL) 10th and Justin Phelps (SL), 10th.

Ashley Woolum (NL) won the girls’ long jump with a distance of 17-6, while her teammate Samantha Proffitt took second. Logan Joyce (SL) came in eighth and Addison Hensley (SL), 17th. In the boys’ long jump, Drew Marcum (NL) took second, Austin Phelps (SL), seventh, Sam Gaskin (SL), 12th, Ben Barnes (NL), 13th, Dillon Greer (SL), 18th and Jose Rodriguez (NL) 19th.

Ashley Woolum won the girls’ triple jump at 37 feet, with Samantha Proffitt taking second. The boys’ triple jump saw Drew Marcum (NL) take second, Andrew Kidd (NL), eighth, Sam Gaskin (SL), 12th, and Chance Lambert (NL), 14th.

Tara Egner (NL) placed fifth in the girls’ discus, with Kathleen Kovach (SL), 12th, Haylee Harris (NL), 14th, Kelcy Arnold (SL), 17th, and Krista Marker (NL), 22nd. In the boys’ discus, Cheyene Miller (SL) took 15th, Caleb Osborne (NL), 20th, Shane Murphy (SL), 23rd and Zach Flint (NL) 29th. Krista Marker (NL) took ninth in the girls’ shot put with Kelcy Arnold (SL) taking 10th, Tara Egner (NL), 16th, and Kathleen Kovach (SL), 17th. Travis Burns (SL) placed fifth in the boys’ shot put with Cheyene Miller (SL) coming in 16th, Shane Murphy (SL), 24th, Ben Barnes (NL), 30th, Caleb Osborne (NL) 31st and Zach Flint (NL), 33rd.
