Corbin routs South Laurel, 62-26

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — CORBIN—South Laurel’s two-game winning streak came to a harsh end Saturday in a 62-26 loss to Corbin in a 50th District battle.

The Lady Redhounds jumped out to an 18-8 lead after one and never looked back. Corbin led 39-13 at the half, then outscored South 20-2 in the third quarter to up the lead to 59-15. South did manage to outscore Corbin in the third, 11-3, to make the final 62-26.

Shelby Davis led the Lady Cardinals with six points, while Brittany Vandeventer added five. Sarah Ashley led Corbin with 15 points and Miranda Wilson chipped in with 11.

South Laurel’s game with Middlesboro Monday night was canceled. The Lady Cards are scheduled to host Breathitt County Thursday and Pineville Friday.
