LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The South Laurel Lady Cardinals won their fourth game in a row Monday night with a thrilling 5-4 win over visiting Madison Southern.
The Lady Eagles held a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning when South rallied for two runs to take the dramatic 5-4 win.
Amber Hyde led the way for South with three hits, including a triple and two RBIs. Megan Smith and Haylie Burns also drove in runs for South Laurel.
Smith picked up the complete game win, allowing four runs (all earned) on eight hits while striking out five and walking two.
South took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third before Madison Southern came back to the game in the top of the fifth. The Lady Cards regained the lead in the bottom of the inning of the sixth before the visitors scored three runs in the top of the seventh.
South pounded out 10 hits in the win. Besides the three by Hyde, Destinee Fisher had two while Casie Finley, Hagan Burns, Smith, Haylie Burns and Bailey Miller all had one hit.
South Laurel was scheduled to host Williamsburg last night then travel to Pulaski County Thursday.
