McFadden has good day for North Laurel

Jaguars compete in Lake Cumberland Invitational track meet

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — SOMERSET—North Laurel finished in 11th place in the men’s varsity standings at the Lake Cumberland Classic Invitational track and field meet on Saturday.

The Lady Jaguars competed but failed to score.

“We had a good day where we learned a lot and showed some improvement,” North Laurel coach Kevin Bradford said. “Jake McFadden showed had a nice outing in his first meet.” Of North Laurel’s 23 points, McFadden accounted for 16 of them. He finished fourth in both the 100 and shot put, fifth in the 200 and seventh in the long jump.

In the boys’ 4x800, North Laurel’s Garrison Burchell, Evan de la Pena, Brett Walter and Stephen Causey finished in ninth place with a time of 9:23.57. In the girls’ 100, Ariel Asher finished in 19th in 22.22. Thomas Melton took seventh in the boys’ 100 hurdles with a time of 18.65. East Moore finished in 36th in the girls’ 100 with a time of 17.53.

In the boys’ 100, McFadden placed fourth in 11.73, while Tucker Sharp came in 28th with a time of 12.92. In the boys’ 4x200 relay, the team of Thomas Melton, Winston Benge, Logan Hacker and Ben Riddle came in 16th with a time of 1:58.12. Garrison Burchell finished in 25th in the boys’ 1600 with a time of 5:05.10, while Evan de la Pena placed 25th in 5:27.89. In the girls’ 4x100 relay, Sierra Hedrick, Haley Brock, Morgan Napier and East Moore came in 14th with a time of 1:04.58.

The boys’ 4x100 relay team of Ben Barnes, Daniel Orr, Ben Riddle and Isaiah Calloway placed 17th with a time of 54.76. Sierra Hedrick finished in 21st in the girls’ 400 with a time of 1:17.54, while in the boys’ 400, Stephen Causey finished in ninth with a time of 58.02, while Ben Riddle came in 31st in 1:03.55.

Ariel Asher crossed the finish line in 1:02.29 for 18th place in the girls’ 300 hurdles, while Haley Brock finished in 20th at 1:05.26. In the boys’ 300 hurdles, Thomas Melton placed 17th in 49.31.

In the boys’ 800, Evan de la Pena came in 27th in 2:29.23 while Brett Walter placed 30th in 2:40.76. The girls’ 200 saw East Moore come in 25th with a time of 37.16. The boys’ 200 had Jake McFadden placing fifth with a time of 23.60 and Tucker Sharp, 23rd, in 26.14. Brett Walter placed 21st in the boys’ 3200 with a time of 13:11.76.

In the boys’ 4x400 relay, North’s Ben Barnes, Thomas Melton, Stephen Causey and Austin Rader placed eighth in 4:00.21.

Allie Cain came in 17th in the girls’ shot put with a distance of 21;04.00, while in the boys’ shot, Jake McFadden placed fourth with a distance of 40-07.00 and Taylor Cain, 25th, at 30-08.00. Allie Cain took 16th in the girls’ discus with a throw of 52-06, while for the boys, Taylor Cain placed 25th with a throw of 75-07.

The girls’ long jump saw Haley Brock finished in 24th at 10-07.00, while Morgan Napier took 27th at 10-00.25. For the boys, Jake McFadden finished in seventh at 18-06.00 and Garrison Burchell, 17th, 16-09.75. Ben Barnes took sixth in the boys’ triple jump with a leap of 36-05.00. Sierra Hedrick cleared four feet even to place 14th in the girls’ high jump. In the girls’ pole vault, Morgan Napier finished in 13th with a height of five feet. Isaiah Calloway took 17th in the boys’ high jump at 6-06.00.

In the boys’ 4x400 freshmen relay, North finished in fourth with a time of 4:21.62. That team consisted of Tucker Sharp, Logan Hacker, Daniel Orr and Elijah Whitenack. In the mixed 1600 run, Brett Walter placed seventh in 5:43.83 and Winston Benge, 15th, 6:36.53.
