LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
WILLIAMSBURG—South Laurel put nine runs on the board in the top of the first inning in a 10-0 rout of Whitley County Monday in softball action.
The win keeps the Lady Cardinals undefeated in district action with a 4-0 record, and improves them to 9-4 overall.
Megan Smith picked up complete game win. In five innings, she faced 20 batters, allowing no runs on three hits.
Amber Hyde was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Brittany Vandeventer and Bailey Miller also smacked doubles, with Miller driving in two with her double. Vandeventer, Hagan Burns and Nell Murray also drove in runs as the Lady Cards were able to take advantage of six Lady Colonel errors.
C.J. Johnson scored three runs, Vandeventer two, and Hyde, Burns, Miller, Smith and Laura Williams also scored.
South Laurel were scheduled to host Lincoln County Tuesday night, then host Corbin Thursday in a big 50th District showdown. Both teams come into the game undefeated in district play, with Corbin posting a 2-0 record.
