LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
MIDDLESBORO—North Laurel’s run in the 11 year old boys’ district came to an end Tuesday night, falling to Corbin, 10-0.
“Corbin played a really great game,” North coach Earl Philpot said. “Their coach even said that was the best they had played all year.”
Ben Philpot took the loss for North, but his coach praised his performance.
“Ben pitched a great game for us,” Philpot said. “They (Corbin) were hitting the ball and we weren’t. Our offfense just wasn’t there.”
North opened tournament play with a 15-2 loss to Hazard. North’s only hit in the game was an RBI single by Chase Pennington. Hunter Jewell and Tyler Purvis scored after drawing walks in the second inning.
North then faced Harlan and were leading 3-1 when the game was called due to weather.
