LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
With the first day of summer this Wednesday, that can only mean one thing.
Little League All Star tournaments.
The 9-10 year old girls get things started Saturday at North Laurel Little League with Hazard taking on Clay County at 10 a.m., followed by Harlan-North Laurel at noon, Tri-Cities-Pulaski at 2 p.m. and Leslie County-Corbin at 4 p.m. The winner of the Tri-Cities-Pulaski game will face South London at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
On June 26 the Hazard-Clay County winner will take on the Harlan-North Laurel winner at 6 p.m., with the other winner’s bracket game a 8 p.m. The Leslie County-Corbin winner will face the South London-Tri-Cities/Pulaski winner.
This is a double elimination tournament with the championship game set for June 30 at 7 p.m.
The Little League 11-12 girls will also start on June 23 at South London Little League.
Clay County-Hazard gets things started at noon, while North Laurel-Pulaski will take place at 2 p.m. McCreary meets Corbin at 4 p.m.
Tri-Cities will face Leslie County on June 24 at 6 p.m., while Knox awaits the winner of the Clay-Hazard game at 2 p.m. Harlan will take on the North Laurel-Pulaski winner at 4 p.m.
Action in the winner’s bracket continues on June 27 at 6 and 8 p.m., with the title game set for July 1 at 7 p.m. This is also a double elimination tournament.
The 9-10 area boys will be held at Clay County starting June 30 when Corbin Red meets North Green at 3 p.m., followed by Clay County-Corbin White at 5 p.m. and South While-North Blue at 7 p.m.
South Red will face the Corbin Red-North Green winner on July 1 at 1 p.m., while the other winner’s bracket game will follow at 3 p.m. The finals are set for July 5 in this double elimination tournament.
The Big League boys will be held at McCreary starting June 29 when McCreary County meets North Laurel at 7 p.m. The winner of that game faces Wayne County on June 30 at 7 p.m. This is also double elimination.
The 11-12 Area 2 boys will be held at Corbin with South London battling North Laurel at 6 p.m. on June 30, followed by Corbin-Clay County at 8 p.m. The two winners meet on July 1 at 2 p.m. in this double elimination tourney.
The 11 year old boys will play their district at Middlesboro starting on July 5 when North Laurel faces Hazard at 6 p.m., followed by Pulaski County-Harlan County at 8 p.m. The winner of that game faces the Knox County-Corbin winner on July 7 at 5 p.m. Knox and Corbin play July 6 at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m. on July 6 Middlesboro faces the North Laurel-Hazard winner. The tournament runs through July 11 and is double elimination.
The Junior League boys district will be held at Corbin starting July 5 when South London takes on Corbin at 6 p.m., followed by the Middlesboro-North Laurel game at 8 p.m. Those two winners meet July 8 at 5 p.m.
Hazard faces McCreary on July 6 at 6 p.m. and Harlan battles Tri-Cities at 8 p.m. Those two winners will play July 8 at 7 p.m. This tournament, also double elimination, runs through July 12.
