Hayes wins annual race

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — David Hayes II won the 2013 Pepsi/Gatorade 5K Saturday morning, finishing just ahead of Mike Schardein, 18:22 to 18:52. Jeff Tipton came in third with a time of 19:12. Those three were the only runners to finish under 20 minutes.

The top female finisher was Shelley Stanko, who crossed the finish line in 22:24 to capture 13th place. Andrea Fryman finished in 26:03 and Sall Gilbert in 28:13. Overall 108 runners competed in the event.
