North Middle girls take fourth in KTCCCA meet

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — LEXINGTON—The North Middle girls’ middle school cross country team recently captured fourth place in the KTCCCA Meet of Champions, held Oct. 26 at Masterson Station in Lexington. The Meet of Champions is equivalent to the state meet for middle school teams.

“This was a fun season and the girls really worked hard and improved so much from the beginning to the end,” North Middle coach Rachel Gaynor said. “It was a good learning experience for them and they did exceptionally well.” The team also won the Area 8 title this season.

North finished with 233 points to take fourth place. In all, 364 runners competed in the event.

Isabel Gray was the top North finisher, coming in 30th with a time of 13:11.58. Katie Ann Brown placed 49th with a time of 13:22.99; Lily Messer, 84th, 14:00.95; Holly Crouch, 87th, 14:03.01; Macie McDaniel, 120th, 14:29.41; Elizabeth Tyra, 156th, 14:59.91; and Hannah Holt, 238th, 16:12.90.

South Middle’s Ellie Stanko finished in 80th place with a time of 13:59.39.

South Middle had four runners place in the boys’ event, which featured 431 runners. Andrew Neely came in 163th with a time of 16:16.50; Lucas Maxey, 245th, 17:11.50; Dylan Bishop, 275th, 17:29.40; and Isaac Cox, 413th, 22:16.20. North Middle’s Winston Benge came in 166th with a time of 16:17.60, and Keller Brown placed 201st in 16:39.40.
