LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
SOMERSET—North Laurel’s Kyle Jeffers will represent Laurel County in the boys’ state golf tournament after finishing with a 74 to finish in sixth place at the boys’ Region 10 golf tournament Monday at Eagle’s Nest.
Somerset won team title with 300 strokes and Pulaski County was second with 314 strokes. Corbin was third with 322 strokes. Jackson County, North Laurel and Wayne County, all tied for fourth with 323 strokes.
Pulaski’s Kellen Wilson shot a 3-under-par 68 to take region medalist honors. Jackson County’s Zach Norris was second with a 70, Clay County’s Tyler McDaniel was third with a 71, Somerset’s Ross Perry was fourth with a 71, and Somerset’s Zach Whitis was fifth with a 73.
Other North golfers were: Barrett James (80), Braxton Hicks (88), Korey Philpot (85) and Hunter North (84).
McDaniel and Norris qualified for state as individual golfers along with Jeffers.
South Laurel finished with a 342, led by Zach Royster with an 83. Tucker Martin shot an 84, Tad Barton, 87, Trey Martin, 88, and Tanner Sibert, 94.
Twenty schools participated in the event. The Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA boys’ golf tournament will be held at the Bowling Green Country Club Oct. 7-9.
