LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
MONTICELLO—Keaton Kennedy scored three goals, while Josh Carter added four assists as the North Laurel Jaguars downed Wayne County, 7-0.
“The team did a much better job moving the ball around compared to the first game,” coach Mark Acampa said. “The defense worked better together, and we got some excellent play out of our freshmen, Adam Napier and Mike Votolato. And senior Will Bruner, the defensive captain, was solid as usual.”
Kennedy scored two of the first three North (2-0) goals, then scored the final one to complete his hat trick off an assist from Evan De La Pena. Le Pena would score as well on a header off a corner kick by Carter. Jacob Sansone, Hunter Riley and Travis Parman also found the back of the net for the Jaguars.
“On the offensive side we had some very unselfish play,” Acampa said. “Especially from Josh Carter. It is great to get off to a 2-0 start, but we are fully aware of aspects of our game that need some big improvement.”
The Jaguars will host Estill County tonight.
“We played them last year, and despite a 4-2 win it was a hard fought contest that could have gone either way,” Acampa said. “We are expecting a tough challenge this time as well.”
