Joseph Earl Gaines
Retired glass cutter
Joseph Earl Gaines, 74, of Victory Road, East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1933 in Franklin, Ky., to the union of the late Joseph and Mayzell Grace Gaines. He was a retired glass cutter for H.L.P. Enterprises in Florida and attended the Mill Street Church of Christ in London, Ky.
Survivors include five children, Deborah Black of East Bernstadt, David Earl Gaines, of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Sharlene Johnson, of Tifton, Ga., Joseph Darryll Gaines, of Clifton, Tenn., and Cynthia Darlene Gaines, of Orlando, Fla. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Sue Gaines.
He was the brother of Jerry Gaines, of Indiana, Pauline Dampf, of Noblesville, Ind., Jenny Fuller and Linda Minear, both of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Willie Gaines and James Gaines.
Eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. (central standard time) Wednesday, May 7, at Bethany Church of Christ Cemetery in Franklin, Ky., with Roger Bruner officiating. Services are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin.
