LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Jarvis Lymon Hampton, 69, Sallys Branch Road, London, Ky., passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at his residence.
Born March 7, 1944 in Manchester, Ky., he was the son of the late Jarvis and Julia Mae Minton Hampton. He was a postal worker and a member of Valley Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis Dean Hampton; and two brothers, Gary Hampton and Mark Wayne Hampton.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Brown Hampton, Sallys Branch Road; two children, Rhonda (Reuben) Goforth and Jeff (Frankie) Hampton, all of London; two sisters, Brenda (Bob) Burchette and Linda (Mike) Wagers, all of Manchester, Ky.; two brothers, Murral (Phyllis) Hampton of Manchester, Ky., and David (Diane) Hampton of East Bernstadt; two step children, Bradley (Jodi) Cheek, and Travis Cheek, all of London; 13 grandchildren, Robbie Goforth, Wesley Goforth, Dylan Hampton, Rachael Hampton, Wendell Hampton, Keisha Hubbard, Hannah Hubbard, Rachel Cheek, Haley Cheek, Brodi Cheek, Sydni Cheek, Benjamin Cheek, and Trevor Cheek; and four great-grandchildren, Adrian Goforth, Kiara Goforth, Matthew Goforth, and Alex Goforth. He was also blessed with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Jarvis Lymon Hampton were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 in the chapel of London Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Cloud and Brother Roy Jackson officiating.
Burial followed in Martin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Hampton, Johnny Brown, Dean Joseph, Dylan Hampton, Wendell Hampton, Adrian Joseph and Bobbie Goforth.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Beckner, Stanley Proffitt, Floyd Brown, TA Schell, Jowayne Schell and Homer Hampton.
