LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Billie Lewis, 76, London, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his residence.
Born Oct. 27, 1935 in Leslie County, Ky., he was the son of the late Shirley and Hazel Ray Philpot.
He was a retired factory worker and member of Cornelius House of Prayer.
He was united in marriage to Lois Payne Lewis who survives. He is also survived by three sons, Roy Lewis of Monticello, Ky., Joe Lewis and Donnie Lewis, both of London; two daughters, Debbie Tomblin of Edmonton, Ky. and Pat Daniels of Monticello; four stepchildren, Howard Lucas, Freddie Lucas and Dale Lucas, all of East Bernstadt, and Tracy Vilsack of London; a brother, Elmo Lewis of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; two sisters, Mamie Stevens and Joyce Philpot, both of Louisville, Ky.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Philpot; two children, Mary Perkins and Margie Oakley; two brothers, Roy Philpot and George Philpot; and a sister, Opal Shelton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Denny McCowan and Elmer Oakley officiating.
Burial will follow in Dunn Cemetery.
Visitation was after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
