Astor Ledford

Retired civil engineer

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Astor Ledford, 100, Marydell Road, London, Ky., passed away, Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at his residence.

Born July 9, 1912 in Peabody, Ky., he was the son of the late David and Ollie Napier Ledford. He was a retired civil engineer for the Kentucky Power Company and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sallie Ledford, Marydell Road, London, whom he married on Oct. 15, 1933; his children, David Harold Ledford of London, Ky., Muriel (Owen) Black of Danville, Ill., Joan Ledford of Florence, Ky., and Paul (Vickie) Ledford of London; sisters, Nancy Davidson of Clarksville, Ohio, and Mary Feltner and Evelyn Bowling, both of St. Augustine, Fla.; a brother, Henry (Georgia) Ledford of Big Creek, Ky.; grandchildren, Jonathan D. Ledford, Brent Ledford, Karla L. Carratola, Regina B. Kopp, Randall Black and M. Jane Black; great-grandchildren, Kynsleigh Ledford and Noah James Carratola.

The family of Mr. Ledford will receive friends after 6 p.m. today, Wednesday at House-Rawlings Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwayne Yost and the Rev. David Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mosley Cemetery at Red Bird, Ky.

Pallbearers will be Randy Black, Jonathan Ledford, Brent Ledford, Brandon Ledford, Matthew Caratola, David Caratola, Wayne Hopper and Larry Taylor

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Shady Grove Baptist and Grace Community Church.
