Earnest Eugene Moore

Retired factory worker from Phoenix

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Earnest Eugene Moore, 81, of London, Ky., passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at St. Joseph London, after a long battle with his health.  

Born May 24, 1931 in Laurel County, he was the son of the late Theo and Mae Delph Moore.  

On Feb. 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to his wife of 50 years, Nellie Rose Hammons Moore, who preceded him in death.  In addition to his parents and his wife, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Akins and his brother, James H. Moore.

He is survived by four children, Debra Jean Moore, Richard Theo Moore and wife, Reese, Johnny Wayne Moore and Connie Sue Moore Ellison and husband, Bill, all of London; four grandchildren, Rebecca Mae Ellison, Amanda Hope Ellison, Johnny Eugene Moore and Jesse Allen Moore, all of London.  Other survivors include a brother, Tilford Moore and wife, Mary Ann; asister, Betty Moore Collins all of Waterford, Mich,;  a sister-in-law, Oma Lee Moore of London; and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins and friends, who were all so dear to him.

He was a retired factory worker from Phoenix Manufacturing and a farmer.  He was a member of Slate Hill Baptist church, but during his years following his stroke, he was home bound and unable to attend. But, he had many churches praying for him at home.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the chapel at Bowling Funeral Home with Vernon Jarvis, Dallas Riggs and Tilford Moore officiating.  

Burial followed in Slate Hill Cemetery in Laurel County.

The family received friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers were Bobby Fowler, Roger Lambert, Anthony Sullivan, Johnny Eugene Moore, Michael Lambert, and Jesse Moore.

Honorary pallbearers were Delbert Robinson, Sonny Krahenbuhl, Coleman Delph and Loman Gregory.
