Phillip Ray Settles Sr.


Phillip Ray Settles Sr., 64, of East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at his residence.

Born Jan. 13, 1949, he was the son of Earl and Ada Grimes Settles.  He was a truck driver and member of the Cornelius House of Prayer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Browning Settles of East Bernstadt; his daughter, Sue Ann Nelson and husband, Doug, of Mt. Vernon; sons, Phillip Ray Settles Jr. and wife, Bessie, of London, and Kevin Settles of East Bernstadt; brothers, Carl Settles of Florida, Jack Settles of Indianapolis, Ind., Larry Settles of London, and Robbie Settles of London; sisters, Brenda Killion and Barbara Rednour, both of East Bernstadt; and 11 grandchildren, Josh Nelson, Kelsey Nelson, Sherman Nelson, David Buttrey, Ashlee Buttrey, Kendra Valentine, Logan Settles, Hunter Settles, Amberlyn Settles, Jordan Settles and Eli Settles.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at the London Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Denny McCowan and Rev. Cliff Creech officiated.

Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, East Bernstadt.

Visitation was held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Richard Gregory, David Buttrey, Shawn Settles, Gene Harris, Conley Browning and Bill Browning.

Honorary pallbearers were Sherman Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Hunter Settles, Logan Settles and Denzil Lewis.
