Alberta Carpenter Pearce

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Alberta Carpenter Pearce, 78, of London, Ky., passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.

Born on March 25, 1935 in McKee, Ky., she was the daughter of Hewie and Ollie McDaniel Carpenter.  Pearce was a waitress and affiliated with the Pentecostal faith.  She was a member of the Livingston Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, James R. Pearce of London; her daughter, Bobbie Lynn Ordmandy of Niota, Tenn.; sisters, Virginia Pearl Lay of Bryantsville, Ky., and Yvonna Griffith of Glencoe, Ky.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Lee Griffith; brother, Birchel Carpenter; and an infant brother and infant sister.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at the London Funeral Home Chapel. James Miller officiated.

Burial followed in the Red Hill Cemetery, Livingston, Ky.

Visitation was held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Paul Grigsby, Perry Farris, Taylor Durham, Bobby Carpenter, Harold Griffith, and Marshall Rush.
