Wilma Brown

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Wilma Brown, 83, of 2405 N. Everett St., Crawfordsville, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital.

She worked at Loeb’s Department Store in the Boulevard Mall for 18 years, retiring in 1987.  She had also worked at R. R. Donnelley & Son in Crawfordsville and at Western Union in Middletown, Ohio.  She was a 1948 graduate of Bush High School in London, Ky. She enjoyed being a homemaker, collecting antiques and attending auctions.

She was born July 29, 1930, near London, Ky., to Robert and Ethel Edwards Sweet. On Sept. 20, 1952 she married Marvelon Brown at Crawfordsville.  He survives.

Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandy Brown, of Crawfordsville; a brother, Kenneth Sweet of Corbin, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Christine Smith, Opal Sweet, Eulene Carmack, Fayma Cheek and Roberts Sweet; and two brothers, Jimmy Sweet and Delmas Sweet.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 6 at Oak Hill Cemetery North with Pastor Dan Aldrich officiating. 

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.
