Erskin Eugene Edwards Jr.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Erskin Eugene “Gene” Edwards Jr., 74, Keavy Road, London, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at his residence.

Born Nov. 11, 1939 in Isola, Miss., he was the son of the late  Erskin Eugene Edwards Sr. and Minnie Lee (Donald) Edwards Roncoli.

He was the superintendent of DW Wilburn Inc., a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Carmichael Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ronnie Edwards and Ricky Edwards; and his step-father, Johnny Roncoli.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Jackson) Edwards of London; a daughter, Carmel Hensley and husband, Shane of East Bernstadt; two sons, Jeff Edwards and wife, Kelly, and Bryan Edwards and wife, Maria, all of London; sisters, Martha Hester, Margie Goslin, Sara Ray, Rita Roncali, Brenda Manning, Linda Aerswald and Tina Garcia; brothers, Tomy Edwards, Farren Edwards, LeOtis Edwards, Kenny Edwards, Joe Edwards and Billy Ray Edwards; and eight grandchildren, Ellisia Edwards, Meredith Hensley, Breeanne Edwards, Brady Hensley, Erin Reece Edwards, Jason Edwards, Grantland Edwards and Rozlyn Hensley.

Funeral service for Erskin Eugene “Gene” Edwards Jr. was conducted at 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 16 in London Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Lewis and Sister Phyllis Miller officiating.

Burial followed at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park with the local DAV in charge of military honors.

Family served as pallbearers with honorary pallbearers being Brady Hensley, Jaron Edwards and Grantland Edwards.
