Jewell Dean Sasser Rush

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Jewell Dean Sasser Rush, 71, passed away on Friday, Dec. 28.

She was born on July 22, 1941, to the late Tollie Evan and Flora Mae Morris Sasser.  

She was united in marriage to Glen Dale Rush on Feb. 20, 1960, who preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2004.

She retired from RCA in Bloomington, Ind., and worked at Therm-O-Disk in London until the factory closed.  She was a member of the Martins Creek Baptist Church.  She enjoyed researching family genealogy and sewing.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her younger sister, Emily Sue Sasser.

She is survived by three children, Flora Mae (Cricket) Rush, Tollie James Rush and wife, Tami, Tammy Denise Smallwood and fiancé, Teddy Parsley II, all of London; one sister, Orpha June Peters and husband, Arthur; one brother, Tollie Evan Sasser Jr, both of London; six grandchildren, Shannon Nichole Riggs, Brandon James Rush, Ashleigh LaShea Maddison Rush, Savannah Rheiann Autumn Rush, Kiersten Rose Lynn Smallwood and Katerina Marie Smallwood; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home with Shirley Joe Smith and Gary Kirby officiating.

Burial was in the Sasser-Smith Cemetery in London.

Visitation was at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Brandon Rush, Bobby Williams, Bradley Williams, Andrew Miller, Randall Potts and Josh Parsley.
