LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — James Edward Gray, 76, of East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Saint Joseph London.
Born Sept. 3, 1937 in Laurel County, Ky., he was the son of the late Ed Gray and Rebecca Day.
He was a carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Philpot Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Fay Washabaugh, Alice Peters and Lucy Grubbs.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Hubbard Gray of East Bernstadt; four daughters, Connie Cope, Rebecca Marcum and Shana Sandifer, all of London, and Sherry Brown of Hyattsville, Md.; two sons, Richard Gray of Richmond, Ky., and Johnny Gray of London; a sister, Cora Lou Reed of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Alonzo Gray and Herbert Gray, both of London; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for James Edward Gray was conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with James Allen officiating.
Burial followed in the Mt. Salem Cemetery, Laurel County.
The local DAV was in charge of military honors.
The family received friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Sunday.
