Woodrow J. “Preacher” Smallwood

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Woodrow J. “Preacher” Smallwood, 74, Barbourville Road, London, Ky., passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at his residence.

Born Feb. 24, 1937 in Knox County, Ky., he was the son of the late Walter and Mary Smith Smallwood. He was a used car dealer and a deacon at Full Faith Church of God in Laurel County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister, Vernon Smallwood and Ruth Smallwood.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Patrick Smallwood, London, Ky.; six daughters, Shirley (Kenneth) Day, London, Mary Ann (Daryl) Hendrix, Williamsburg, Valerie (Wayne) Day, Corbin, Tammy (Larry) Creech and Pam Smallwood Payne, both of London, and Margie Francis (Randy) Grubb, Manchester; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan, 23 at London Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Day, Jerry Laudermilk and Billy Evans officiating.

Burial followed in Hale Cemetery, Laurel County.

Pallbearers were Kenny Day, Daniel Day, Bobby Day, Jonathan Day, Darrell Wayne Hendrix, Timothy Hendrix, James Hendrix and Dustin House.
