Opal Dyche Miller

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Opal Dyche Miller, 102, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly.  

She was born on March 5, 1911, in Jackson County, Ky., the daughter of the late Henry and Maxie Flitchum Dyche.  

On August 17, 1963, she graduated from Cumberland College.  She taught school in the Laurel County School System for three years. From 1936 to June 30, 1987, she worked as director of personnel at East Bernstadt Independent School and London City School.  She audited school records for the State Department of Education two summers.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Ola Lake and Ruby Watkins and three brothers, Bob, Roy and Walter Dyche.

She is survived by a very special nephew, Tom Watkins; and three very special nieces, Janet McNew, Sally Dyche and Kathy Miller, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 27 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Lewis officiating.  

Burial will follow in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bowling Funeral Home.
