Mary Rose Baker

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Mary Rose Baker, 87, departed this life at Saint Joseph London on Friday, March 22, 2013.

She was born on June 5, 1925, in Clay County, Ky., the daughter of the late Owen and Otha Bowling Herd.  She was a homemaker and a member of Park Place Church of God.

She was united in marriage to Elder Baker, who preceded her in death.  

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Baker and Owen Wayne Baker; and one grandson, Kevin Baker.

She is survived by eight children, Janet (David) Asher of Bardstown, Elder (Lillian) Baker Jr., Patricia (Boyd) Sizemore, Darrell (Jewell) Baker, Daniel (Tammy) Baker, Gerald (Kelly) Baker, all of London, Judy Lynn (Billy) Radford of East Bernstadt, and Reuben (Billie) Baker of Manchester; two brothers, Alfred Herd of Milan, Ind., and Walker Herd of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Martha Bowling of McKee, Lucille Gilbert and Irene Spurlock, both of Manchester; her daughter-in-law:  Lucille Baker of Manchester; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.  

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Elbert Sams and Steven Baker officiating.  

Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery, Manchester.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. Sunday at Bowling Funeral Home.
