harles Brown, 86, husband of Georgia Brown, Fort Mitchell, Ky., formerly of London, passed away Wed., Dec. 10, 2008, at St. Joseph-London.
Born in Lafayette, Ind. he was the son of the late Granville Thomas and Laura Kidd Brown. He was a World War II veteran and POW. He was an U.S. Army machine gunner and recipient of numerous medals, including the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, EAMETO Medal, and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a self-employed farmer and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in London.
Survivors other than his wife include a son, Barry (Nora) Brown, Lexington; a stepdaughter, Norma Stoker, Fort Mitchell, Ky.; a stepson, John (Kathy) Stewart, Naples, Fla.; two grandsons, David Brown, Florence, Ky. and Scott Brown, San Francisco, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mary Bricker, Fort Mitchell, Ky. and Mildred Stokes, Florence, Ky.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. today, Dec. 15, 2008, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, with Pastor Fred Calkins officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Skip Caldwell, Rick Caldwell, Steve Dickerson, Mark Dickerson, Steve House, and Bruce House. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. today, Dec. 15, 2008, until the time of the service.
