LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Exel Hugh “E.H.” Root, 78, London, Ky., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, at his residence.
Born Feb. 26, 1934 in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of the late William and Mae Bruner Root. He was a retired coal miner and member of Freedom United Baptist Chursch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Phyllis Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Lewis Root, London; son, Keith Root and wife, Cheryl, London; daughters, Kay McCracken and husband, Jim, London, and Kathy Chandler and husband, G.W., St. Augustine, Fla.; three sisters, Claudia Curry and Eva Jarvis, both of London, and Pearl Chadwell, Seymour, Ind.; three brothers, Carl Root, Johnny Root and Jimmy Root, all of London; four grandchildren, Chastity Bradley and husband, Rob, Melanie Callahan and husband, Shane, Alisa Houchens and husband, Charlie and Hillary Root; and four great-grandchildren, Cole and Wesley Bradley, Tanner Houchens and Blakely Callahan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 23 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Randy Philpot officiating.
Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, Bush community.
Pallbearers will be Shane Callahan, Charlie Houchens, Barkley Lewis, Kevin Root, Brad Root, Greg Jarvis, Ray Miller and Roy Miller.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
