Ellis Wayne Johnson

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Ellis Wayne Johnson, 82, Somerset, Ky., formerly of Laurel County, Ky., passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at his residence.

Born Dec. 9, 1930 in Gray, Ky., he was the son of the late Luster and Rose Phipps Johnson.

He was a contractor and a member of the Community Christian Church, London, where he served as an Elder for over 50 years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lois Sevier Johnson, Somerset; two sons,  Larry Johnson and wife, Carol of Keavy, and Daryl Johnson and wife, Kaye of Morrow, Ohio; a daughter, Karen Johnson of Winchester, Ky.; three sisters, Doris Martin of London, Fredia Austin of Donalds, S.C., and Donna Coates of West Chester, Ohio; four brothers,  Earl Johnson, Joe Johnson, and Douglas Johnson, all of Williamstown, Ky., and Edward Johnson of Somerset; seven granchildren,  Becky West, Carey Clinton, Melissa Omohundro, Skyler, Johnson, Jenna McQuinley, Tara McQuinley and Leah McQuinley; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ellis Wayne Johnson will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Community Christian Church in London with Keith Short and Jim Dorn officiating.

Burial will follow at Merrimac Cemetery, Laurel County.

Pallbearers will be Ben West, Wes Omohundro, Brian Coates, Mark Allen Austin, Bryan Johnson, Ben Duffy, Pat Ledingham and Daryl Koebke.

The received friends at Community Christian Church from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to: Faith Christian Camp, c/o Andrew Johnson, CPA, 412 Master Street, Corbin, Ky., 40701.

London Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
