Mabel Bray

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Mabel Bray, 89, of London, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Saint Joseph London.

She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Clay County, Ky., the daughter of the late Elihu and Alabama Smith Payne.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mud Lick Church of the Brethren.

She was united in marriage to Pete Bray, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by four children, Eugene Bray, Doris Jean Bray Sizemore and Christine Bray, all of London, and Jacquelean Bray (Thomas Edward) Hurley of Berea; four grandchildren, Darrell Shannon Sizemore, Christie Dawn Bray, Christy (Chase) Fields and Ashley Cecile Bray; two step grandchildren, Jennifer Hurley Goins and Travis Dixon; one step great-grandchild, Connor Edward Goins; sisters-in-law, Flora Hoskins of Manchester and Rosie Wagers of London; plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two children, Cecil and Janet Bray; four brothers, Roy, Ray, and Truman Payne and Ford Wagers; and two sisters, Georgia Thompson and Etta Richards.

Funeral service was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Dewayne Yost and Jimmy Dewayne Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Rough Creek Cemetery, Laurel County.

Pallbearers were Travis Dixon, Landon Edwards, Michael Edwards, Joey Ridner, Andrew Jones, Jared Chase Fields and Thomas Hurley.
