LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Edward L. Valentine Sr. of Tori Pines Lane, Corbin, Ky., departed this life on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at his home in Corbin.
He was 88 years, 2 months and 29 days of age. He was born on November 11, 1925 in Suffolk County, N.Y., to the late Clifton Valentine and Lottie Jones Valentine.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Sirotkin and Grace Levko; and a brother, Arthur Valentine.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during World War II and was a member of Corbin Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years Rose Bette Valentine of Corbin; a son, Edward Valentine and his wife Sharon of Corbin; two grandsons, Eddie Valentine III and his wife Emily of London, and Nathan Valentine and his wife Carrie of Lexington; five great-grandchildren, Trey, Hailee, Roslyn, Brady and Cate; a brother, Clifton Valentine of Long Island, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Corbin Presbyterian Church in Corbin. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Lisa Eye officiating. He will be laid to rest in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Ky., following graveside military honors at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.
