LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
James “PaPaw” Hatcher Sr., 85, Danville, Ind., passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home.
He was born March 2, 1927 in London, Ky., the son of the late John and Angeline Chesnut Hatcher. He married Elinor Dowd in 1950 in London.
He was a 1945 graduate of Lizton High School. He was a farmer, self-employed truck driver, a farm equipment mechanic for A.H. Stanley Farm Implements for 20 years, a welder at Electric Steel and Castings in Speedway, Ind., for 10 years, and a material handler at R.R. Donnelley in Crawfordsville, Ind., where he retired. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Danville American Legion Post No. 118, the Rockville VFW Post No. 1752, and the Rockville AmVets No. 61.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Sue (Kenny) Ottinger, Jean (Charlie) Thurnall, all of New Winchester, Ind., Kathy (Dan) Wethington, Ladoga, Ind., Jim (Jenny) Hatcher Jr., New Winchester, Ind., and Mari (Mike) Clark, Danville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman Hatcher; and a sister, Sylvia Harrell, both of Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services were conducred at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30 in Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home, Danville, Ind.
Burial followed in New Winchester Cemetery.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 29.
