Jerry Myrs Smith

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Jerry Myrs Smith, 61, of East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Saint Joseph–East in Lexington, Ky.

A native of Laurel County, Ky., he was born Feb. 26, 1951, the son of the late Ed and Matilda Lawson Smith.

He was a retired mechanic.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Eversole Smith, who preceded him in death on April 2, 2012.

He is survived  by three children, Shawn (Tracy) Smith and Amy (Steve) Bell, all of East Bernstadt, and Adam (Terrie) Smith of Summerville, Ohio; four sisters,  Genevia Smith and Maeola Eversole, both of East Bernstadt, Jackie Gabbard of London, and Elvadean Sturgill of Georgetown, Ohio;  three brothers,  Calvin Smith of Liberty, Ind., Eithel Smith of Moscow, Ohio, and Earl Smith of New Richmond, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.  

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sondra McGeorge, Jean Delph and Virginia Pitman; and three brothers,  Felix, Alvin and Bert Wayne Smith.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at Laurel Chapel Baptist Church with Randall and Ronnie Eversole officiating.

Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery at East Bernstadt.

Pallbearers were Adam Smith, Steve Eversole, Randy Eversole, Shawn Smith, Austin Smith and Steve Bell.

Arrangements were by Bowling Funeral Home.
