Shirley Ann Napier

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Shirley Ann Napier, 76, of Bray Road, London, Ky., passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at her residence.

Born Feb. 9, 1937 in Hyden, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ruth (Bellow) Pennington.

She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boyd Napier; a sister, Loretta Penning-ton; and a brother, Paul Pennington.

Survivors include three daughters, Loretta Napier and husband, Marlow, and Sandy Gilbert and husband, Claude, all of London, and Donna Summers and husband, Bruce of Corbin; a son, Robert Jones of Corbin;  six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of Stanley Pennington, of Corbin, Ky., Wilburn Pennington, of Keavy, Johnny Pennington and Helen Howard, both of Ohio, Richard Pennington, Charlene Griffith, Lenasa Baker, and Barbara Combs, all of Leslie County, Ky., and Maxine Pennington, of Indiana.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Napier were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23  in the chapel of London Funeral Home with Brother Claude Gilbert and Brother Marlow Napier officiating.

Burial followed at Elza Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Claude Gilbert, Denver Gilbert, Steven Fields, Brian Napier, Andy Jones and Brandon Gossett.

The family received friends at London Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
