Robert E. Ball

Graveside service for Robert E. Ball, 45, of Ghent, Minn., will be held Monday, Jan.  27 at 1 p.m. at Brantley Cemetery, Greenmount, Ky.

Robert Edward Ball was born Nov. 27, 1968, in Morristown, Tenn., to Ernest and Guelda “Sugar” Allen (Ball). He grew up in London and Marshall, Minn. When he was in high school, he moved with his family to Minneapolis where he graduated.

Robert attended the University of Tennessee for a few years, majoring in anthropology. He lived in Toronto, Canada, for 15 years working in an exclusive art gallery, before moving to Ghent, Minn., four years ago to be closer to his sisters. He was currently working as an insurance specialist for US Bank.

Robert was an avid lover of the arts, including painting, theatre and music. He loved to cook and was famous for his ham. He loved making all of his food to look magazine perfect. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to foreign countries, with Newfoundland, Canada, being a favorite destination. He was very fond of spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Robert was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved life and his family. He had a way with making the impossible seem possible with his wise words and wise cracking jokes. He had an infectious laugh and sassy attitude. He made an impact on everyone he met and he loved unconditionally. Forever in our hearts and always on our minds, we love you Robert.

Robert died unexpectedly at his residence in Ghent, Minn., Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.

He is survived by his mother, Guelda “Sugar” Allen of London; siblings, Becky Ball of Minneapolis, Laura (and Tom) Buysse of Minneota, Sonia (and Dustin) Kesteloot of Marshall; maternal grandparents Robert and Eva Allen of London; nieces Melissa (and Korey) Kesteloot, their children Owen and Avery, Heather (and Charles) Green, their daughter Braelyn, Matthew (and Kaley) Buysse, Ellen Buysse, Hayley Roberts, and Abigail Kesteloot, Uncle Freddie (and Judy) Ball and Aunts Bobbie (and Bill) Davenport, Imogene Tyre, Linda Tincher and Lucy Cook, all of London, and special friend Simon Evans of Toronto, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Ball Jr., his paternal grandmother and both grandfathers.

London Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
