John Michael Bisesi

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — John Michael “Mike” Bisesi, 73, of London, Ky., passed away  February 1, 2014, peacefully in his sleep.

The funeral services were held at 2 p.m.  February 4, in the chapel of  House-Rawlings Funeral Home in London.

Brother Homer Johnson officiated.

 The family received friends beginning at 11  a.m. until the funeral hour also on Tuesday, at House-Rawlings Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Indianapolis, Ind., on Thursday, Feb. 6.

Prior to the burial, visitation will be held at Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Indianapolis at 1 p.m with services at 2 p.m.

Bisesi was born November 1, 1940, in Indianapolis, Ind. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Indianapolis, and Slate Hill Baptist Church, in London. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School and Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. A U.S. Navy Veteran, SA Bisesi served 2 years, 4 months and 22 days on the destroyer USS Sierra (AD-18) and USS Hank (DD-702). Bisesi was commissioned by Kentucky Governor, Steve Beshear, as a Kentucky Colonel on November 13, 2013.

Bisesi is remembered for his love of athletics and his sense of humor. Bisesi and his father, Mike Bisesi Sr. are members of the Indiana Amateur Softball Association’s Hall of Fame.  A former fisherman guide for members of the Boston Red Sox, Bisesi was an avid fisherman and golfer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jan Bisesi, of London; two children, Keith Bisesi and wife Sarah, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Vestina Winton of Palm Bay, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Renee Bundy and husband Kelvin of London, and Janelle Phelps and husband Danny of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Penny Moss and husband Richard and Melody Lopossa, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; three brothers, James Tipton Bisesi and wife Jan of Indianapolis, Ind., Gus Joseph Bisesi of Fishers, Ind., and Danny Gene McClara and wife Becky of Beech Grove, Ind.; three grandchildren, Jessica Winton, Isabel and Olivia Bisesi; six step-grandchildren, Justin Bowling, Megan Davidson, Seth Bundy and wife Heather, Whitney Bundy, Brittany Bundy and Mollee Bundy; and three step-great grandchildren, Riley Bowling, Nolan Bowling and Layla Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike Bisesi and Julia Jean Casey Bisesi McClara; and one brother, Anthony Joseph Bisesi.
