Gene G. Quillen Sr.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Gene G. Quillen Sr., 72, of Keavy Road, London, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1941 in Grays, Ky.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Palmer Quillen of London; two children, Polly Quillen and Gene G. Quillen Jr., both of Keavy, Ky.; two step daughters, Janie Forbes and Donna Tudor, both of Georgetown; a sister, Eva Palmer of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Nelson of Hyden, Ky.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and he was uncle to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Virgil Nelson Sr. and Inez Ridgle Nelson; a daughter,  Lisa C. Quillen Lindsey; a son, Steven D. Quillen; and 10 siblings, Cotha, Chester  Jr., Edna, Ethel, Berta, James, Opal, Charles, Mack and Don.

He was a retired machinist and was of the Christian faith.

The family will  receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 15.
