LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Norman O. Proffitt, 73, of Zionsville, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born on September 9, 1939 in East Bernstadt, Ky., the son of James and Flora Ellen (Collier) Proffitt. He graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army from 1960 - 1963.
He was a member of the Eastlawn Wesleyan Church. Norm enjoyed fishing, his grandchildren, camping, and spending time with his family, friends and attending family reunions. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2001 after 34 years.
Surviving him are his wife, Wanda L. (Grimes) Proffitt of Zionsville, Ind.; sister, Ella Lee (Proffitt) Grimes of London, Ky.; brother, Mervil Proffitt of London, Ky.; sister, Dorothy (Proffitt) Herbert of Columbus, Ind.; sons Michael Norman Proffitt (and his wife, Meibao) and Shaun Dewayne Proffitt; grandchildren Amber Kay, Cody Norman, Joshua Michael, Bailey Ann, Allison Nichole, Zefang and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Flora (Collier) Proffitt, and siblings, Edith, Edna, Earnest, Charles, and Morse.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Eastlawn Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis, Ind.
The funeral service will immediately follow visitation, and will begin at 7 p.m. Pastor Dave Cox will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Washington Park East - Gate Garden, Indianapolis, Ind.
