LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Wilma Proffitt Miracle, 82, of Lily, Ky., passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
A native of Lily, she was a lifelong member of the Lily Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful worker and church clerk. Wilma worked 42 years in social services for the state and had been active in the Kiwanis Club in London and Laurel County.
Her kindness, energy, and positive attitude endeared her to her many relatives and friends who will miss her and cherish her memory and the time they shared together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucy Brock Root; her husband, Charles Proffitt; and two brothers, Franklin Root and Willie “Bill” Root.
She is survived by her husband, Eston Miracle; two brothers, Eugene Root and Russell Root; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lily Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Wilmer Evans and Rev. Bill Shackleford officiating.
Interment followed at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
