Daisy Baker

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Daisy Baker, 86, London, Ky., passed away, Friday, July 5, 2013.

She was born Nov. 13, 1926 in Laurel County, Ky., the daughter of the late Curtis McKnight and Martha Bowling McKnight George.

Mrs. Baker was a retired employee of Continental Telephone Company and was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was united in marriage to James Montgomery Baker who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, James C. Baker and wife, Cindy of London; a daughter, Pamela Baker of Falls Church, Va.;  two sisters-in-law, Jo McKnight of Winchester, Ky., and Mary McKnight of Somerset, Ky.; two grandchildren, Lana Cochis and husband, Michael, and Glen Baker; and a great-grandchild, Samuel Clay Cochis; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two brothers, T. G. and H. B. McKnight.

The family would like to also honor the caregivers with a special thanks for their help to Mrs. Baker during her last few weeks, Genople Robinson, Barbara Powell, Sue Adams, Debby Smith, and Rita Brown. They made it possible for her to stay in her own home and gave her their time, love and compassion when it was so needed. God bless each of you.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with the Rev. Harlan Avera officiating.

Burial followed in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park, London.

Visitation was after 6 p.m. Sunday, July 7.
