LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Walter Nolan, 82, of Harrods Branch Road, London, Ky., passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at his residence.
Born Feb. 1, 1931 in White Oak, Ky., he was the son of the late David and Rosie Hoskins Nolan.
He was a retired coal miner and member of the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Essie Gross Nolan; a daughter, Lois Nolan; two brothers, Frank Nolan and Caleb Nolan; two sisters, Maggie Roark and Polly Jane Caldwell; and by a son-in-law, David Klawes.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Griffitts of Huber Heights, Ohio, Lucy Klawes of Bledsoe, Ky., Rose Mary Brown of Hawesville, Ky., and Lena Bowling of London; a sister, Louise Warford of Mozelle, Ky.; two brothers, Birchel Nolan and A.D. Nolan, both of Warbranch, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Walter Nolan will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 10 in the chapel of London Funeral Home with Brother Cecil Benge officiating.
Burial will follow at Brown’s Cemetery, Bledsoe, Ky.
Pallbearers will be Steven Griffitts, Austin Griffitts, David Klawes, Christopher Klawes, Christopher Brown and Andrew Holland.
The family received friends at the funeral home after 6 p.m. on Thursday.
