Mary Ruth Philpot Bentley

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Mary Ruth (Hensley) Philpot Bentley, 72, of Reams Lane, London, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Saint Joseph London.

Born Dec. 31, 1940 in Richmond, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Fieldon and Stella Baker Hansley.

She was a former employee at Griffin Pie and of the Baptist faith.

She was the mother of Katherine Cole of Lily, Ky., Bonnie Lou Philpot, Joyce Ann Philpot, Lonnie C. Philpot, Donnie Lee Philpot, and John Dale Philpot, all of London, Ronald Ray Philpot of Corbin, Ky., and Crystal Catron of Berea, Ky.; the sister of Sarah Dees, Lillie Garland, and Rita Faye Hammons, all of London, and Minnie Hampton of Myakka, Fla.; she is also survived by 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Bentley; two sisters, Eudell Hammons and Hannah Bowling; and a brother, William “Bill” Hensley.

Funeral service for Mary Ruth (Hensley) Philpot Bentley will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 31, in the London Funeral Home Chapel with Jared Guillion, Cecil Benge and John Dale Philpot officiating.

Burial will follow at Wyatt Chapel Cemetery, Laurel County.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Lawson, Joey Carter, Chris Philpot, Larry Philpot, Aaton Philpot, Luke Philpot, James William Cole and Junior Hammons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Gilbert, John C. Philpot, Raymond England, Ernest Allen, Jerry Lawson, Daniel Garland, Ron Carter and Bill Cole.

The family received friends at London Funeral Home after 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
