LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Samuel S. Hampton Jr., 76, Fariston Road, Ky., passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at his residence.

Born June 26, 1937 in Pontiac, Mich., he was the son of the late S.S. Hampton Sr. and Florence Smith Hampton. He was a Dupont paint mixer, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Antique Engine and Tractor Club and affiliated with the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two  siblings, Wade Hampton and Mildred Hampton.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Hopkins Hampton, London; two sons, John S. Hampton of Delphi, Ind. and Michael A. Hampton, Virginia;  two brothers, Willard Hampton, London, and Don Hampton, Fenton, Mich.; a sister,  Vada Hampton, London; a grandson, Dean Hampton, Delphi, Ind.; three granddaughters, Grace Hampton, Delphi, Ind., Samantha Hampton and Roxane Hampton, both of Virginia.

Visitation will be held after 7 p.m. today, March 14 at London Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements for Samuel S. Hampton Jr.  will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15 in the chapel of London Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Paul Roark officiating.

Burial will follow in McDaniels Cemetery.
