Woodrow Woods

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Woodrow Woods, 92, of London, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.  

Born on February 8, 1921, in Thousand Sticks, Ky., he was the son of the late Felix and Dorothy Wooten Woods.  

He worked in the construction business, was a master plumber and a farmer.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, and a member of Lily Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was united in marriage to Martha Keen Woods, who survives of London.  

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Felix Woods Jr.; and five young siblings.

He is also survived by eight children, Darrell (Sue Ann) Woods of London, Brenda Johnson of Xenia, Ohio, Frances (Clarence) Jones, Donald (Glenda) Woods, Ronald (Susan) Woods, Chris (Kenny) Whitaker, Earnest Woods and Roger (Esther Gail) Woods, all of London; four sisters,  Oma Woods of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Cora Marie Vaughn of London, Joanne Barnett of Sharonville, Ohio, and Martha Avis Basey of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Marcus Woods of London and Don Woods of Indianapolis, Ind.; 19 grandchildren, Tammy, Tim, Pam, Lisa, Sharon, Deide, Michael, Michelle, Doug, Matthew, Jordan, Steven, Matthew, Melena, Kyle, Johnny, Lisa, K’la and Everett; 21 great-grandchildren, Jeslyn, Ethan, Kaylee, Tristan, Gracie, Lauren, Austin, Jacob, Sydney, Allie, Melody, Leanne, Robert, Jayden, Braydon, J. D., Kash, Kylee, Breanna, Brooklyn, and Braydon; two-great-great-grandchildren, Eli and Tyler; plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.  

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Wilmer Evans officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily.

Military honors will be conducted by the Keavy DAV.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. today, Friday, March 29 at Bowling Funeral Home.
