Virginia Nickell Hibbard

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Virginia Nickell Hibbard passed away at her home on Friday, March 29, 2013.  

She was born on August 7, 1919 in Morgan County, the daughter of the late John Curren and Emma Golden Nickell.  

Virginia was always an active volunteer with her community and church organizations.  She served as member and officer of the DAR, Woman’s Club, Eastern Star, and PTA. She volunteered endless hours for the American Cancer Society.  She was a member of her beloved First Baptist Church of London for 64 years where she served as a member and president of the Woman’s Missionary Union, circle group, and her Sunday school class throughout the years.  Virginia also enjoyed being with her family, telling jokes and entertaining her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Coy Martin Hibbard. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.  

She is survived by her sister, Lucille Haney; her three daughters, Linda (Danny) Norvell, Donna (Larry) Elliott, Marilyn (Ed) Workman; and eight grandchildren, Kim (Tom) LeMaster, Jamie Norvell, Martin Norvell, Marc (Emily) Elliott, Amy (Paul) Gause, Monica Elliott, Laura Workman, and Patrick Workman.  She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Monday, April 1, at London Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Lester officiating.

Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.  

Visitation will be held at London Funeral Home after 12 noon on Monday.
