LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Everett Beckner, 89, of Connersville, Ind., passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Herritage House Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, following a brief stay.
He was born March 25, 1924 in London, Ky., the son of the late Doc Nelson and Sally Vendeventer Beckner.
He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, serving in Marshall Islands, received the Victory, American Area and Asiatic Pacific Ribbons and was honorably discharged from Great Lake, Ill. on May 5, 1946.
He retired from Roots Blower Co. of Connersville in 1979, where he had been an assembler for more than 20 years.
On June 15, 1955, he was married to Ruth Black Beckner, who passed away July 27, 1972.
He attended high school in London and was a member of the Church of Christ in Kentucky. He was a member of the Waterloo Church of Christ in Connersville, Ind. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and was a beekeeper.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Ruth, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Faye Beckner Blevins; a brother, Earl Beckner; and a sister, Thelma Wyatt.
He is survived by his daughter, Glenna (Ronald) Harris and his son, Robert (Tammy) Beckner, both of Connersville; seven grandchildren, Heidi Ruth Blevins Sipes of Shelbyville, Ind., Talitha Marie Campbell of Greenfield, Ind., Debra Jo Webb of Blooming Grove, Ind., Zackery Daniel Webb of Connersville, Tiya Faye Beckner of Everton, Ind., Cameron Michael Beckner and Daniel Allen Beckner, both of Connersville; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at House-Rawlings Funeral Home in London. Jerry Brown officiated.
Burial followed in the Beckner Family Cemetery in London.
Visitations were held on Friday, April 5 from 4-7 p.m. at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville, Ind., and at House-Rawlings Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
