Melba Mize

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Melba Mize, 79, of Mt. Vernon, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Ky.

She is survived by one son, Johnny Mize and wife Jane; three sisters, Iris Slaven, Mildred Pace, and Dora Pace, all of Indiana; three brothers, Herman Norton of Indiana, Sherman Norton of Mt. Vernon, Ky., and Joe Norton of Winchester, Ky.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Mize Gabbard and husband Travis, Joshua Mize and wife Sarah, and  Sally Mize; four great-grandchildren, Ben Gabbard, Emma Gabbard, Haley Mize and Chloe Mize.  She is also blessed with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Foist and Dovie McKinney Norton; a son, Ronnie Mize; and one brother, Norman Norton.  

The family of Melba Mize will receive friends after 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11 at House-Rawlings Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Friday, April 12 in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Terry Gabbard and Mike Seals officiating.

Burial will follow at Mize Cemetery in Rockcastle County.
