LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Bazel Anderson, 89, loving husband, wonderful father, gentle man and decorated war hero, entered heaven peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1923 in Knott County, Ky., to James and Sarah Anderson. He worked for Sterling Drug Company in Cincinnati, Ohio and served in the CCC, and worked in the ship yards in Hampton, Va., where he was drafted into the service. He served in World War II as a member of the military police and expert marksman. He received five bronze stars, a silver star and many other medals.
He was married to and survived by Edith Kelly Anderson and they raised four children. Three daughters, Patty (Robert) Tarvin, Carol (Charles) Elza, Sheila Lang and one son, Larry (Suzie) Anderson. They had 10 grandchildren, Christie Elza (Barrett) Pritchard, Brian (Lauren) Elza, Tonya Tarvin (John) Crum, Shanna Tarvin, Heather Elza, Patrick Lang, Scott Tarvin, Kevin Lang, Danielle Anderson and Brianna Anderson; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild and his 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Jessamine Christian Church, Nicholasville, Ky.
Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. funeral hour Thursday at the church.
