Minerva Lee Hibbitts

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Minerva Lee Hatcher Hibbitts, 97, of Whitley Street, London, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her residence.

A Laurel County native, she was born May 22, 1915, the daughter of the late Leander and Lourainie Whitaker Hacker.

She was a homemaker and member of New Bethel United Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,  Benjamin Cornelius Hibbitts; a daughter, Ruth Dean Hibbitts; four brothers; and two sisters.

She was the mother of Faye (Lindsey) Mardis, Loraine (Wade) Cowden, June (Robert) Miller, Joan (Dennis)  Gay, Charles Hibbitts, Leslie (Linda) Hibbitts, Dan  (Linda) Hibbitts, Edward (Dallas) Hibbitts, Eldon (Jessica) Hibbitts, and Glen (Brenda) Hibbitts, all of London; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 2 in London Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Gibbs and the Rev. Todd Parker officiating.

Burial will follow in Reams Cemetery, Laurel County.

 Grandson will serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends at London Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on Thursday.
