James Garland Moody Sr.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — James Garland Moody Sr., 72, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at his residence.

He was born July 10, 1940, in Laurel County, Ky., the son of the late Gilbert John and Mae Myers Moody.

He was a retired telephone contractor, a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Union United Baptist Church.

He was united in marriage to Janet R. Johnson Moody, who survives of London. He is also survived by three children,  James G. Moody Jr. and Jeffery Todd Moody and wife, Dianne, all of London, and Tiffany Maxine Houston and husband, Kevin, of East Bernstadt; two sisters,  Martha Freeman of London and June Ryan of Corbin; two brothers,  Johnny Moody of Louisville and Eddie Moody of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.  

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister,  Billie Mae Southard.

Funeral services for James Garland Moody Sr., were conducted at 12 noon Monday, March 4 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Lewis officiating.

The family of James Garland Moody, Sr. received friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Sunday.
